Thanks to those of you that entered Shelly’s Runner’s Necklace giveaway! There were 13 qualifying entries, and random.org chose the winner.
Congrats, Kim! I’ll pass your info on to Shelly, and she will be in touch with you soon!
herbie: noun (hur-bee) One whose diet consists solely of plants. See also: herbivore
Y’all have heard me mention my friend Shelly a few times. Specifically her blog and her jewelry, Lavoro Designs. Well, she is very generously offering to give one of my readers a custom-made runner’s necklace!
You get to choose the disk and bead color! I speak from experience when I say she has just about any color of bead you could possibly want, and these are your disk choices.
If you want more than the one disk and one bead that your necklace will have on it, you can purchase additional disks here and additional beads here. That’s what I did, and this is what I ended up with. Awesome, right?
That’s my crappy photo. Not Shelly’s. Don’t judge her by my camera skills. |
But remember! The giveaway is for the chain, one disk from the selection pictured above, and one bead only. Anything more than that is up to you and completely optional and at your cost.
You’ve got a few ways to enter the giveaway and will gain one entry for each one of these that you do.
Entries will be accepted until 11:59 pm on Monday, October 1st. A winner will be selected randomly and announced on Tuesday, October 2nd. The winner will have three days to respond or a new winner will be selected. If you don’t have a blog that I can contact you through, please be sure to include your email address in your comment! If I can’t contact you, I’ll select a new winner immediately.
Sorry, but Shelly only ships to domestic addresses, so no international entries, please.
And while you’re at it, poke around her shop–she’s got tons of awesome stuff! Use code RUN10 at checkout for 10% off your entire purchase. Specifically, be sure to check out her other runner-specific necklace! (Yes, I have one of these, too. I may have a problem.)
A couple of months ago, Jenn at Jenn’s Adventures hosted a giveaway for a $25 gift certificate to Glass Dharma. I entered it, and when I returned from vacation I found an email waiting for me in my inbox telling me that I’d won!
My main concern when I first heard about the product was breakage. That concern turned out to be unfounded. From their web site: If for any reason* your GlassDharma Drinking straw breaks, you may return the broken straw for repair or replacement. If we cannot restore it to its original condition, we will gladly replace it.
After browsing their site, I chose the Simple Elegance 8 inch, the Simple Elegance 9 inch (both in the 9.5-mm diameter, or the “iced tea” style), and the cleaning brush. Even with shipping, my $25 gift certificate was enough to make the entire order free with a couple of bucks to spare. (Buying a set of four makes for a better value, but I was trying to keep it under the $25 and accomplished just that with those three items.)
My favorite way to use mine is in my smoothies. 🙂

And now Glass Dharma has been generous enough to offer another $25 gift certificate to one of my readers. To enter the giveaway, simply enter a comment below. For a bonus entry, like them on Facebook and leave another comment to let me know you did.
This giveaway will close at 11:59 pm on 7/9/2012. Winner will be selected on 7/10/2012 using random.org based on the order of the comments below. If winner doesn’t claim their prize within three days, another winner will be selected. I won my products as a giveaway prize, but the above-stated opinions are my own. I am not being compensated in any way by Glass Dharma. I simply wanted to pass along a good thing! It’s hard to find a quality American-made product with excellent customer service, and the Glass Dharma is just that!
ADDED ON 7/3: Several people have questioned the “cleanability” of the straws. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you use $5 of your $25 gift certificate to get one of their cleaning brushes. You can find that item here on their Accessories page. With that, cleaning is effortless!
I have been one lucky lady this year in blogland! I’ve entered my fair share of giveaways and virtual races, and I’ve made off with some pretty awesome loot in the process.
I scored this shirt from Vanilla at Half-Fast (*sniff, sniff* I sure do miss him who just came out of bloggy retirement like fifteen seconds after I saved this draft.) as a prize in Razz’s GW,MA!6.66M virtual race.
Ummm… thanks? hahaha This definitely ranks right up there at the top of the list of the ugliest race shirts I’ve ever seen. But I now have Ian’s autograph, so I shall cherish it forever and always. Until I sell it on eBay for millions when he becomes a celebrity. *snicker*
Rad Runner hosted a giveaway for Bradford Tonic, in which I scored a four-pack of their B-Ginger ginger and lime drinks. Pretty cool because I would have never heard of them otherwise! No store around here carries them. Not a big fan of the drink by itself, but it made a great mixer!
The drop-dead-gorgeous and knock-your-socks-off-fast Emz asked everyone for their favorite running tunes and had a prize for the person who suggested the song that became her new favorite. I didn’t win, but I came in a close second, earning me a $15 iTunes gift card!
Bobbie at 2010 Journey in Running hosted a giveaway for Snorg Tees, which I won and picked out this hilariously inappropriate-for-a-chick-to-wear That’s What She Said shirt.
Amanda also hosted the PR Challenge in which she matched runners up with others based on their current PRs in a given distance, then we all raced that distance again. Whoever got the biggest PR in the group WON! My 8:08 improvement from Nashville in April to Clarksville in October in the half-marathon distance put me in the top spot. The PR Challenge rules state that the winner was to receive a small prize from her competitors, and Lynn from H20Break sent me this coffee mug. How cool and generous is that?! (I saw the price on zazzle.com. If this is her idea of a “small prize” it’s too bad for me the rules didn’t say a “nice gift”! ha! Thanks again, Lynn!)
With all this luck, how did I NOT come back from Vegas a multi-millionaire???
Winning comment #12 (selected by random.org) belonged to …
AMANDA @ RUN TO THE FINISH!!!
Congrats, Amanda! 🙂 Send your address to pamfrench at hotmail dot com and I’ll get it to you asap!
A few weeks ago I did a Sweaty Bands review and giveaway and mentioned that I had another one that I was putting back for a rainy day. Well guess what! It’s raining! AND I just hit 50 followers! So today sounds like a great day for another giveaway.
Here’s what’s up for grabs this time:
(This is one of the wider bands at about 1-1/2 inches.)
Same rules as last time.
1. Go to http://sweatybands.com/ and look around. Come back and leave a comment. What’s your favorite one? I got the hot pink one, but there are a bunch more that I really like.
2. Like Sweaty Bands on facebook and leave me a comment letting me know that you did (+1 entry).
3. Spread the word! Give a shout out to this giveaway on your blog (+1 entry).
Feel free to become a follower, but it’s not mandatory and it won’t gain you any extra entries.
Entries will be accepted until 11:59 p.m. CST on 8/25. Winner will be selected using random.org the next day.
There were 36 official entries, of which random.org selected #23, so Ashley is the winner! Congratulations, Ashley! Please send your shipping info on over and I’ll get your band on it’s way. (I hope you check back because your comment wasn’t linked to a blog or a profile, and it didn’t contain any contact information, so I can’t contact you!)
Thanks to everyone for playing! =)
A couple of posts ago I asked you guys what makes running suck less for you. I got lots of good tips and a few ideas of things to try! Thanks for those! When running long any miles, comfort is of the utmost importance to me. I want something that doesn’t rub, bounce, slip, scratch, chafe, tickle, shift, or annoy me in any way.
Friends, I have found one of those things.
It’s hard to find a product that performs as well as the manufacturer claims, but Sweaty Bands does just that.
What Sweaty Bands says about their product:
“We’ve turned perspiration into a fashion sensation! Sweaty Bands are the ultimate sports and fitness headband, uniquely designed for women and girls who want to show their style, even when they sweat a while! Slip into one today and become a Sweaty Bands believer.”
What I say about Sweaty Bands:
“Yeah. What they said.”
I saw several reviews on this product and tried to win one in a few giveaways but never got quite that lucky. So this tight-wad came off a few bucks and ordered one. I’m tellin’ ya, one run and I was hooked. With my other stretchy headbands, I was constantly having to readjust because it would ride higher and higher until it was eventually just coming off the back of my head. I didn’t have to touch my Sweaty Band a single time. NOT. ONCE.
So it’s functional AND cute! Just look at this. How could you NOT want one?
And here’s your chance!
After receiving and trying my purchase, I emailed the gals at Sweaty Bands and asked them if they would be interested in letting me host a giveaway. They agreed. How cool are they?!
I checked my PO box today, saw a package from Sweaty Bands, opened it up, and they had sent me not one but TWO bands for the giveaway! I’ll admit the thought of pocketing one of them DID cross my mind! But I once heard a very wise man say, “Stealing is bad, m’kay?” I COULD give them both away now, but why blow your whole wad in one shot? I’ll tuck one back and save it for a rainy day. I’ll have a 100th post coming up before too long. That sounds like a giveaway-appropriate occasion to me!
Here is the one that I am giving away now:
1. Go to www.sweatybands.com and look around. Come back and leave a comment. What’s your favorite one? Mine was the hot pink one (obviously), but there were a bunch more that I really like.
2. Like Sweaty Bands on facebook and leave me a comment letting me know that you did (+1 entry).
3. Spread the word! Give a shout out to this giveaway on your blog (+1 entry).
4. Mention my gigantic ears (-1 entry).
Feel free to become a follower, but it’s not mandatory and it won’t gain you any extra entries. I’m not trying to build a cult or an army of followers here or anything. (Trust me. When I start building my army, you’ll know it. But it will consist of more ninjas and superheroes than bloggers.)
And, guys, don’t be scared to enter! Get it for your wife or your daughter. They will love it! Or wear it yourself. Whatever floats your boat.
Fine print & Disclaimer: Entries will be accepted until 11:59 pm on July 19th. A winner will be chosen by random.org shortly after. If you’re not a follower, check back to see if you won! If I haven’t heard from the winner by the 24th, I will select another winner. Open to U.S. residents only. I did buy my Sweaty Band and formed my own opinion, but I was given this band free of charge to host a giveaway.
Ready or not, here it comes. Marathon training is just around the corner. Since so many of you have been there, done that, and got the T-Shirt (literally), I’m gonna try and tap into that experience and expertise a little bit. Tell me what you do, what you wear, what you eat, etc., that makes marathon training suck a little bit less for you! I’ve noticed that most runners have one or two things that they absolutely swear by. So whether it’s something you do before, during, or after the run, let’s hear it!
And stay tuned! Giveaway coming soon! It’s one of the things that I’VE come to absolutely swear by…
